Maaran is a Tamil language film directed by Karthik Narain and starring Dhanush, Malvika Mohanan, and Samudrakhani in the lead roles. The director has now revealed that the role played by Dhanush and Malvika Mohanan is that of a journalist and a photojournalist. Samudrakhani has said to be playing a negative role in the film. The film is the first combination of Dhanush and filmmaker Karthik Narain, who made a name for himself with his debut film Dhruvangal Pathinayudu.
