Maaran is a 2022 Indian Tamil language action crime thriller film written and directed by Karthik Narain, screenplay and dialogues co-written by Suhas-Sharfu and Vivek. Produced by TG Thyagarajan, Senthil Thyagarajan, and Arjun Thyagarajan under the banner of Sathya Jyothi Films, the film stars Malavika Mohanan, Samudrakhani, Ranki, and Mahendran in the lead roles. Smruti Venkat and Krishnakumar Balasubramanian will be seen in supporting roles in the title role of Dhanush. Music: G. V. Movie Story:
People who do not believe what anyone says believe what a journalist says. Is it not our responsibility to maintain that trust? ‘ Says journalist Satyamurthy (Ranky). He’s killed for exposing a scam. Satyamurthy’s son Maran as Dhanush, who lost his parents at an early age, also becomes an investigative journalist when he grows up. The father walks in the path and exposes the scams without being subjected to any threats. Former minister Palani (Samudrakhani) gets into trouble due to Maran news. At the same time, Maran’s younger sister dies. Who killed Maran’s younger sister? Was Palani responsible for the murder? What did Maran do after his sister died? Movie Review:
Politics, journalism … In the context of these two, the thriller film is reminiscent of ‘Rangam’. Now Dhanush has done the same genre movie. However, it would be a mistake to expect anything new. The scenes where the hero introduces his father, his interest in the movie Murder. However, it did not take long for that interest to wane. The routine drama begins with the Hero Childhood episode. Not only the scenes between the hero and his sister … the dialogues are also imaginable. Needless to say, no more twists. The hero solves every single thing before the cops. Is he a hero? Climax twist, none of those episodes matter at all.
Karthik made his directorial debut with Narain. It was also successful in Telugu. It would be hard to believe that the director who made the film, ‘Maran’, made it. ‘Maran’ went flat, with routine scenes, without a single thrill moment. The focus is on showing the hero in style, cinematography, background music … not on the story, the articles. Truth be told … there are points in the movie where brother and sister sentiment and politicians are tapping EVMs. Chances are it will make a good thriller in the background. However, they failed to make a good film.
Dhanush’s performance also failed to save the film as it was Script Week. Again, the less we talk about the Malvika Mohanan character the better. Scenes between Dhanush and Malavika are very routine. The flight scene is the pinnacle though. The seaweed roll is also routine. The characters of ‘Aadukalam’ Naren, Jayaprakash, Mahendran, etc. Are not so great either. ‘Maran’ is short in length. But, the routine story of the movie, the story seems to stretch the movie. Skip easily.
